Climate communication plays a role in mobilizing people to act to confront the climate crisis. The Delta Electronics Foundation operates the Low-Carbon Life Blog and Climate Battle in Taiwan Podcast, aiming to use these platforms to translate the latest climate change issues into languages the general public could understand.
Low-Carbon Life Blog (2007-Present)
The Foundation has been operating the Low-Carbon Life Blog for more than 15 years. By publishing articles, the Blog continues to share the latest trends and provide reliable information about climate and energy conservation issues. In 2021, the Blog joined forces with the Environmental Information Center, further diversifying the ranges of the topic, including energy, climate, low-carbon buildings and transportation, biodiversity, and green finance.
Low-Carbon Life Blog has been an influential and trustworthy media for climate-related information in the Mandarin-speaking community. Platforms of senior high schools and universities and several reference book publishers were constantly citing blog articles as teaching materials in 2023. Numerous well-known media platforms in Taiwan, including Business Today, Global View Monthly, Business Weekly, Social Enterprise Insights, and so on, also reprinted the articles and helped broaden the reach. The number of reprints was up to 250 last year, and the blog had accumulated over 6.3 million views by the end of 2023.
Climate Battle in Taiwan Podcast (2010-Present)
Since 2010, the Foundation has partnered with IC Broadcasting Co. to produce Climate Battle in Taiwan, one of the first radio programs in Taiwan to advocate for climate awareness and energy issues. In 2021, the program ran on Always on Display (AOD) and multiple Podcast platforms (Apple, YouTube, Spotify, KKBOX), making it easy for listeners to access on their mobile phones or digital websites.
The podcast mainly focuses on analyzing climate and marine science, summarizing important global climate reports such as IPCC Assessment Reports, introducing climate mitigation and adaptation strategies, and tracking updates from domestic climate regulation, as well as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), allowing listeners to keep abreast of the latest trends. In 2023, the podcast exceeded 67,000 annual clicks and was among the top three in the Nature category of Apple Podcast (Taiwan area) for 52 days. Meanwhile, the podcast was selected for the Earth Day special last year.
Under climate change, society needs more comprehensive scientific studies to support various actions to mitigate warming and adapt climate.
Since 2013, to connect media and environmental organizations to the knowledge on climate change, the Delta Electronics Foundation has held climate salons for IPCC reports, providing timely interpretations of the latest updates to the local media.
Since 2007, Delta Electronics Foundation has been participating in the COPs every year. We bring back the latest climate discussion and in-depth analysis of all kinds in the context of climate change to raise public awareness here in Taiwan.
