To promote issues of nature, biodiversity loss, and climate change, film and music can be powerful tools to change narratives and perceptions of the general public. Over the past few years, the Delta Electronics Foundation has organized several events, such as nature documentaries live in concert and screening, to showcase the bond between ecology and art and further reiterate climate and biodiversity issues for public sympathy and awareness.
BBC's Nature Documentary Series Live in Concerts (2021-2022)
In 2021, the Foundation held the first live concert for the epic nature documentary Blue Planet II from BBC. The event used an ultra-high-definition 8K laser projector to project a selection of Blue Planet II onto an 800-inch screen, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the new underwater world. As a zero-carbon concert, it was also the first screening of Blue Planet II in Asia, with an audience of over 3,500 people.
Continuing the momentum generated by the BBC Blue Planet II Live in Concert, the Foundation cooperated with BBC and udnFunLife again in 2022, holding another live concert for Planet Earth II. Along with the renowned music from Hans Zimmer, the musical performance not only amazed the audience with its audio-visual effects but also brought people an immersive experience of the beauty and magnificence of Mother Earth.
The Delta Earth Film Festival (2022-Present)
In 2022, the Foundation launched a new environmental initiative, the Delta Earth Film Festival. From March to September, the Festival screened two epic BBC eco-films, Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II, together with two of Delta's award-winning environmental documentaries, Life in the Coral Reefs and Swimming with Humpback Whale, at venues and campuses throughout Taiwan.
Using Delta's world-leading 8K laser projectors, the Festival hoped to bring the public's attention to the impact of climate change. Some sessions also offered post-screening sharing from Wild View Taiwan Nature Communication Society and Future Earth Taipei, leading the general public to understand the issues highlighted in the documentary.
In 2022, the cumulative total of viewers reached over 15,000. Considering documentary screening influential for promoting environmental issues, the Foundation will hold the 2nd Delta Earth Film Festival in July 2023.
In 2019, the Delta Foundation began working with a professional marine conservation team to restore coral on Northeast Coast, recruiting corporate underwater diving volunteers to help build a coral breeding base
Since 2023, Delta starts our devotion to coral sexual reproduction and contributes to the research of heat-tolerant coral species cultivation.
To raise people's awareness of carbon reduction, "Delta Green Building Exhibition" was held in Paris, during COP21 in 2015 and had attracted over 40,000 people to visit.
