Since 2007, the Delta Electronics Foundation has developed long-term plans for training Delta's corporate volunteers. The Foundation is committed to helping spread information on the latest environmental issues on campus. Through designing course materials and hands-on experiments, the Foundation hopes to inspire students to explore new knowledge about the environment and take action to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions in their daily lives.
Till now, the volunteering program has been developed into different schemes, including energy education, green buildings, and science education. In 2023, the volunteer hours reached over 4,500 hours with over 70,000 service recipients.
Energy Education (2007-Present)
In 2007, the Foundation started to train energy education volunteers, mostly from Delta's Taipei and Taoyuan factories, and introduced teaching materials for energy education on campus. The teaching materials cover diversified topics, such as renewable energy, energy conservation in life, and low-carbon transportation. In 2023, the Foundation recruited 31 corporate volunteers to implement energy education in schools across northern and central Taiwan, and the number of recipients reached 240. So far, Delta has continuously promoted energy education volunteer activities not only in Taiwan, but also in Thailand, China, and India.
Green Buildings (2012-Present)
The Foundation also cooperates with regional social and educational groups in training green building volunteers. In 2012, the Foundation started to train employees from Delta's Tainan factory to provide guided tours on holidays for the Y. S. Sun Green Building (also named Magic School of Green Technologies) at National Cheng Kung University. The guided tours introduce the visitors to how this zero-carbon green building is constructed with ecological, energy-saving, and waste-reduction designs. In 2023, 90 corporate volunteers offered guides, and the number of recipients reached 6000.
Science Education (2017-Present)
To promote science education in Taiwan, the Foundation has sponsored the "Physical World" exhibition at the National Museum of Natural Science. Upon the establishment of the exhibition in 2017, the Foundation recruited Delta's employees and students of Taichung First Senior High School to volunteer as tour guides on holidays. Through this program, the Foundation hopes to familiarize visitors with science and physics in relaxing and lively ways, while offering volunteers opportunities to develop their professional skills. In 2023, the Foundation recruited 36 volunteers and offered guides for over 63,000 people.
The scholarship program provides the grant of NT$250,000 to each graduate student, and is open to applicants between January and April every year.
Since 2008, the British Office has been cooperating with the Delta Electronics Foundation to set up Chevening-Delta Climate Scholarships. Each year, two youth leaders devoted to Taiwan’s environmental protection are sponsored to go to study in the UK.
In lieu of the heated discussions on business environmental ethics, the Foundation in 2011 for the first time to cooperate with Chinese Business Ethics Education Association to jointly launch the project of "Delta Corporate Environmental Ethics Research Grant."
