The Delta Electronics Foundation held its environmental scholarship award ceremony on July 28th, which was the first on-site ceremony after the pandemic. Seven master's students and two professors were awarded the scholarship and will be heading to the Netherlands, UK, Japan, US, and Brazil for long-term studies or short-term research programs.
Mr. Bruce Cheng, the founder of Delta Electronics and the chairperson of Delta Electronics Foundation, attended the ceremony in person. As El Niño has arrived and the average global temperature hit a record high, he encouraged these young talented people to bring the latest low-carbon trends and knowledge back to Taiwan.
As Mr. Bruce Cheng mentioned, over one hundred graduate students and young teachers have received Delta's environmental scholarships, and many have developed their sustainability careers within government, business, NGO, and think tank. Mr. Leon Man, head of Political Section at the British Office, Ms. Marielle Lagers, executive director of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency, Prof. Hsiu-Hua Hu, the chairperson of the Chinese Business Ethics Education Association, and Ms. Shan Shan Guo, chief brand officer of Delta Electronics and vice chairperson of Delta Electronics Foundation, also participated in the event and passed on their respective words of wisdom to the scholarship recipients.
This year, the recipients' field of study spans across different disciplines, including but not limited to sustainable business and innovation, wind energy, environmental science, climate law, and European and international business law focusing on the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
The Delta Electronics Foundation offers three types of environmental scholarships. The Netherlands Environmental Scholarship now enters its 18th year, with 5 master students out of 56 applicants receiving it this year. The Foundation has also been collaborating with the British Office for 15 years on the Chevening-Delta Climate Scholarship, and 2 out of 80 applicants won the scholarship this year. The 13th Delta Corporate Environmental Ethics Grant awarded 2 professors over 20 submitted applications.
