Y.S. Sun was Minister
of Economics and then Premier during one of Taiwan's
most turbulent eras. He led Taiwan through the United
Nations withdrawal, the break in diplomatic relations
with Japan and the U.S., and two oil crises. He was
sincere and determined, and his time in office was
characterized by honest government and bold leadership.
Drawing on the planning skills and can-do spirit of
his engineering background, he sowed the seeds of
hi-tech and laid a solid foundation for the development
of Taiwan's economy.

Miracle K.T. Li Forging
a Path in the Global Economy by Ming-Huei Tzeng

Looking back over Taiwan's
economic miracle, there is one strategic policymaker
who led the people of Taiwan out of postwar poverty.
He was a scientist with a broad vision, who saw both
the forest and the trees, and who put ideas into practice
with exceptional skill. He offered the right policies
at the right time, leading Taiwan through two complete
stages of economic development. That man is K.T. Li.
With foresight and an innovative spirit, K.T. Li linked
Taiwan to the international financial system and brought
together a technocratic team that managed an extraordinary
era for Taiwan's finance, economics, and technology.
