The Delta Electronics Foundation has been devoted to climate education and talent cultivation over a long period of time. In addition to online courses, scholarships, and climate communication, we since 2007 have established long-term volunteer teams, which are sent to implement energy and scientific education in the “Physical World”, Delta Green Buildings, and various environmental exhibitions. Through volunteer scheme, we aim to promote environmental education rooted from elementary school, and raise public awareness on environment.

EnergyEducationVolunteers

In 2007, the Delta Electronics Foundation introduced“K-12 Energy Education Program” (KEEP) from the USA and trained about 80 corporate volunteers every year in Taiwan. With various topics that include renewable energy, green building, low carbon transportation and daily energy-saving behaviors, we tailor-make the program and bring it to the elementary schools near Delta facilities. To date, our energy volunteers have served over 130 elementary schools in Taiwan. Since 2016, we’ve even extended the well-developed volunteers training programs and service systems to Delta’s branches in Thailand, China, and the USA. The extension allows Delta’s volunteers around the world to jointly strive for climate education.

GreenBuildingVolunteers

Since 2012, the Foundation has recruited Delta’s employees of Tainan to volunteer for green building tour guide on holidays in the first zero-carbon building of Taiwan, NCKU Y. S. Sun Research Center. The building was also donated by the founder of Delta Electronics, Mr. Bruce Cheng. Our volunteers would additionally guide tours for Delta’s two green plants in Tainan and share the story of the reconstruction of Namasia Ming Chuan Elementary School in Kaohsiung, which was another green campus donated by the Foundation. Through the narrative, they acquaint people with the Foundation’s efforts on environmental protection and the potential of carbon reduction in green buildings.

Volunteers in PhysicalWorld

To popularize the scientific education in Taiwan, the Delta Electronics Foundation has sponsored the establishment of National Museum of Natural Science “Physical World” exhibition. With interactive models, visitors are able to understand basic knowledge and theories of physics more easily. The exhibition areas include electromagnetics, kinematics, mechanics, fluid mechanics, wave motion, optics, and modern physics. Upon the establishment of the exhibition in 2017, the Foundation has recruited Delta employees and students of Taichung First Senior High School to volunteer for tour guide on holidays. Through the scheme, we hope to familiarize students and visitors with science and physics in relaxing and lively ways, while offer volunteers opportunities to develop their professional skills.

Volunteers for Namasia

After Typhoon Morakot in 2009, the Delta Electronics Foundation contributed to the reconstruction of Namasia Ming Chuan Elementary School in Kaohsiung City. The rebuilt school is honored with “diamond certification”, the highest level green building system. The library is even the first building that reached "net-zero” energy consumption in Taiwan. After the reconstruction in 2012, the Foundation constantly offers good learning environment and living condition for local students. We not only maintain green building facilities periodically, but also ceaselessly implement energy education in the school. Every year the Foundation arranges volunteer services there. Through the way we hope to remind next generation of climate disasters, and how humans can adapt to climate change. This newborn school symbolizes the continuation of the new generations.
